When a large retailer wanted a unique ZIP Code to help streamline its merchandise returns process, Strategic Account Manager (SAM) Sam Ruggiero suggested using “vanity addresses” linked to their existing unique ZIP Codes. Vanity addresses would help the retailer’s receiving employees identify returns by merchandise type and sort them for restocking the company’s inventory.The retailer’s logistics manager liked the idea and has implemented it.
Making sure USPS understands the requirements, technical issues and market forces of its largest business mailers is a SAM’s job. Located in major metropolitan areas, SAMs serve as liaisons between top managers of large mailers and the Postal Service. Sam Ruggiero is based in South Florida.
