Inspectors Provide 'Super' Security

South Floridians and out-of-town visitors enjoyed a host of pre-Super Bowl festivities --- even prior to the big game.

The Super Bowl is widely recognized as one of the most viewed sporting events in American culture, and this year's competition was at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. And like most other host cities, security was a top priority.

Due to heightened security, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service Miami Division conducted mail and package screening. The Miami Division served on the National Event Mail Screening Team, which checked all mailpieces and parcels --- including packages from other couriers --- for harmful chemicals, biological agents, and explosives. They also looked for abnormalities like excessive postage, too much tape, missing return addresses, and lopsided packages.

"We did our part to keep the players, spectators and employees safe by ensuring the mail  and packages going to the stadium were safe," said Miami Division Inspector In Charge Antonio Gomez.
