Improving the Customer Experience

Boca Rio Branch Manager, Customer Services Juan Febres (left) and Manager, Retail Sue Walker (right) were impressed with the technology of the upgraded Self-Service Kiosk.

The Postal Service began replacing approximately 2,800 Self-Service Kiosks (SSKs) with upgraded machines. The rollout is slated for completion in July.

Recently, new equipment was installed at the Boca Downtown Post Office, Boca Rio Branch, Boca Woodlands Station, Davie Branch, Palm Beach Gardens Branch (West Palm Beach), Pembroke Pines Branch, University Postal Store (Hollywood), and West Boca Postal Store.

"The new kiosks have improved screens that offer customers an experience similar to using usps.com," said Manager, Retail Sue Walker. "Our customers love the new technology and the ease of the new workflows.”
The new kiosks feature:

• Technology to measure a customer’s mailpiece when it is placed on the machine’s scale.

• A single output bin for postage and labels that illuminates and flashes when an item is dispensed.

• A blue light over the monitor screen that illuminates if there is an alert on the kiosk.

• A scanner that allows the sale of retail products and Ready Post items.

• A camera that allows employees to transmit pictures to a USPS Help Desk.

"The kiosk improvements are part of the organization’s broader efforts to strengthen customers’ experiences," said Walker.
