Business Development Specialist Ellen Uptgrow coordinated the Business Connect 7 (as in 7 days a week) kick off event at the South Florida District Office.
The Monopoly theme "engaged" the Business Connect 7 Team.
Additional participants included Fort Lauderdale Officer In Charge Sarah Augustine; Pompano Postmaster Edwin Coppola; West Palm Beach Postmaster Richie Fermo; Hollywood Postmaster David Guiney; West Palm Beach Customer Relations Coordinator Gale Jackson; A/Manager, Post Office Operations Phyllis Reed; Miami Postmaster Enrique Suarez; Miami Customer Relations Coordinator Mirtha Uriarte; and Manager, Post Office Operations Robert Weiser.
Several Postmasters and Managers, Customer
Services were invited to play Monopoly at the district office.
Participants immediately recognized the
larger-than-life Mr. Monopoly character propped up in the front of the room. And the game board with its 28
properties, Chance and Community spaces, and “Go to Jail” square looked very familiar.
But the properties were different, and the battleship, boot, iron, racecar,
thimble, and Scottie dog had been replaced with South Florida icons --- a dolphin,
flamingo, gator, ibis, manatee, marlin, and panther.
The popular board game has changed ownership
and has been upgraded over the years. Is this yet another edition?
No. It’s all about Business Connect Seven Days
a Week. And revenue generation is no game, but is serious business. Sure, players still move
around the game board, but they’re no longer buying or trading properties,
developing their properties with houses and hotels, and collecting rent from
their opponents, with the goal being to drive them into bankruptcy. The South Florida
District edition has BC7 team players “rolling for revenue” and competing for
sales in the small business market. The game board will encourage activities
that result in the sale of Every Door Direct Mail and Priority Mail products.
The Monopoly game was used to
train a select group of Postmasters and Managers, Customer Services to serve as
Business Connect Coordinators in their areas of responsibility. Their goal is
to lead and assist peers in promoting products and services in the business
community.
During the training, District
Manager Jeffery Taylor gave a motivational talk on employee engagement and
Senior Sales Executive (Shipping) Sharon Squadrito gave a presentation on
products and services. Marketing Manager Juan Nadal distributed Monopoly
dollars to participants who were engaged in answering questions.
As District BC7 Training Coordinator, Business
Development Specialist Ellen Uptgrow decorated the room with Monopoly props
created by Illustrator Barry Artiz.
