PMG Addresses USPS Future at NPF

PMG Patrick R. Donahoe addresses NPF attendees.
For USPS and the mailing industry, the just-concluded National Postal Forum (NPF) was in many respects similar to previous forums — an opportunity for attendees to learn, make contacts and exchange views. But this year’s event reached further.
Speakers at the NPF’s headline sessions, including PMG Pat Donahoe, DPMG Ron Stroman and other USPS leaders, looked beyond today’s Postal Service, asserting the mail’s viability and challenging attendees to embrace change.
Whether it was making the mail 100 percent visible from acceptance to delivery, the introduction of new products like gopost or Every Door Direct Mail, or promotions like “2nd ounce free,” speakers and attendees focused on a dynamic, creative and more flexible Postal Service of the future.
USPS senior executives consistently encouraged attendees to become active partners in the changing paradigm. As in past years, the event featured a series of peer-to-peer events, an opportunity for customers to engage USPS managers and each other in an informal, roundtable setting. Other gatherings included luncheons during which attendees participated in themed “table topics” and an exhibit hall where more than 100 mail industry vendors displayed their products and services.
