Fraudulent emails are being sent to postal customers. Although these emails
are stating they are from the USPS Global, Global Services, or USPS customer
services, they are not USPS emails.
The emails tell
customers they have a package being held for them and they will be charged for
each day the package is unclaimed. The emails also give the recipient an
invalid label number to reference. Once the accompanying link is clicked on, a
virus infects the customer’s computer.
Global Business
has already notified the Postal Inspection Service, which is investigating the
issue.
Report fraudulent issues to the Postal Inspection Service via email at spam@uspis.gov.
