The Postal Service is providing employees with a new way to request unscheduled leave.
You now can use the Enterprise Leave Request Application --- also known as E.L.R.A. --- to request unscheduled leave, if you're unable to report to work.
The E.L.R.A. is an online app available through LiteBlue, which you can use on computers, smartphones, and other mobile devices.
You'll need to enter your Employee Identification Number (EIN) and password, then click on E.L.R.A. in the Employee Apps --- Quick Links from the LiteBlue home page. Answer the preliminary questions, and then choose the duration of your unscheduled leave.
This information will be securely transmitted to your manager, giving both of you a record of your request.
The telephone Interactive Voice Response System --- the I.V.R.S. --- is also still available to dial in and request leave, but the E.L.R.A. may be more convenient for employees who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The new app also can help reduce errors because you'll be able to see and double check the information you've entered.
