OIG Poster: Integrity Begins with You

Postal Service workplaces will soon receive a new poster that encourages employees to report fraud, crimes and other forms of misconduct.

Poster 204 is distributed by the Office of Inspector General (OIG), an independent agency that conducts investigations and audits postal programs.

The poster is part of the OIG’s efforts to ensure efficiency and integrity within USPS. The poster states, “Integrity begins with you.”

A hotline (888-877-7644) and site to report wrongdoing are also listed.

The OIG is asking postal facilities to display it prominently. Additional copies can be obtained at no cost to facilities from the Topeka Asset Management Center.

USPS Celebrates Pickup Trucks

Today in Syracuse, NY, the U.S. Postal Service will issue the Pickup Trucks First-Class Mail stamps, in four designs, to celebrate the rugged and reliable work vehicles that Americans have driven for nearly a century. Designs include:

The strong, sturdy 1938 International Harvester D-2 had a distinct barrel-shaped grille and its elegant styling mirrored the look of luxury automobiles of the era.

The 1953 Chevrolet, featured large windshields that provided drivers with excellent visibility, a distinctive curvy grille that bulged in the middle, and a six-cylinder engine.

The 1948 Ford F-1 included features like the roomy “Million Dollar Cab,” a sharp horizontal five-bar grille, and a six- or eight-cylinder engine.

The 1965 Ford F-100 had a new grille that featured 18 small rectangular openings. It also featured what Ford dubbed “Twin-I-Beam” independent front suspension.

Postal Reform Bill Update

A House committee approved postal reform legislation this week.

Legislation to reform the Postal Service moved forward in Congress this week.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which oversees postal matters, unanimously approved a reform bill July 12.

“This vote sends a strong signal that the bipartisan leadership of the committee intends to bring postal reform legislation to the floor of the House for a vote this year,” USPS said in a statement.

“While the bill does not include all of the elements that the Postal Service requested, it is the product of reasonable compromise and represents a significant step toward returning the Postal Service to a position of financial stability that all stakeholders agree is necessary.”

The full House could consider the bill after Labor Day.

To become law, the legislation must win approval from the full House and Senate, which has its own postal reform bill, and be signed by the president.

The Postal Service’s full statement is available in the online newsroom, and the legislation is posted on the House site.
