Hail to the (Maintenance) 'Chief' in Local 'Cuckoo's Nest' Production

'Chief' Amezquita

It's no surprise that tickets are selling like hotcakes for Davie's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" production. Afterall, Miami Maintenance Manager Rick Amezquita will be making his acting debut as "Chief," one of the main characters who has been cooped up in a mental hospital since the end of World War II.

The play is based on Ken Kesey's original novel about a struggle for personal freedom under the most dire of circumstances. A free-thinking loner stuck in a mental hospital leads a rebellion of patients against a controlling nurse who will resort to anything to stamp out independent thought and action among her patients.

Amezquita shows "great promise," according to his director, but Miami's Maintenance Manager has no plans to leave the Postal Service to pursue a fulltime acting career. To purchase tickets (and to check out Rick's new hairstyle) ...
