Recently, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service Miami Division recognized Delray Beach, FL, Letter Carrier Bradford Murray with a commendatory letter for his heroic efforts.

On May 30, 2018, while delivering his route, Murray noticed an individual hanging out of his vehicle and window firing a gun in the direction of another vehicle. Murray was caught in the crossfire, and bullets struck the driver’s side front grill of his Long Life Vehicle (LLV).

Murray had the wherewithal and courage to look out his windshield and obtain the license plate number of the suspect vehicle as it fled the scene. With the tag number of the suspect vehicle, law enforcement was able to identify a suspect, which subsequently led to an arrest.

In January, the suspect pleaded guilty to four counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle, one count of discharging a weapon from an occupied vehicle and a felon in possession of a weapon. The judge in the case sentenced the suspect to six years in state prison.
