Fort Lauderdale Postmaster David Guiney and Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF) Auto Technician Carlos Lopez were guest speakers at the annual Career Day at North Folk Elementary School last week.

Guiney described his job as Postmaster and the importance of letter carriers using their scanners. He also talked to the children about the importance of responsible pet ownership, which included keeping your dog inside the house, away from the door, when the letter carrier is delivering mail in their neighborhood. He further explained how letter carriers are trained to protect themselves from dog bites and attacks.

Auto Technician Carlos Lopez talked about his role in ensuring that all postal vehicles are maintained to keep our carriers safe and the mail moving. Lopez  also reminded the children to stay a safe distance from all postal vehicles.
