Pelican State 'Stamped' Forever

Louisiana Statehood Stamp
Louisiana has received one of America’s highest honors — the issuance of a Forever stamp celebrating the state’s bicentennial.
Known as the “Pelican State,” Louisiana became the 18th state in the Union April 30, 1812.
“The Postal Service is proud to add to its collection of stamps dedicated to this marvelous state — a stamp that celebrates the 200 years to this day since Louisiana became the 18th state in the Union,” said Chief Human Resources Officer Tony Vegliante.
The Louisiana Statehood Forever stamp features a photograph of Flat Lake. A setting sun casts shadows of cypress trees, hung with Spanish moss, across the water.
