PMG Seeks Nominations for Sustainability Excellence Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Postmaster General Sustainability Excellence Award.

Up to 10 field and headquarters teams will be selected from among small facilities with 1-49 employees, medium facilities with up to 299 employees, large facilities with up to 300 or more employees, and district, area and corporate-wide initiatives.

The award recognizes functions, areas, districts, facilities, groups and individuals contributing to a sustainable workplace. This year’s competition will focus on 8 areas:

  • Waste reduction, recycling and pollution prevention.
  • Green purchasing and reduction of spending on consumables.
  • Green transportation and reduction of vehicle petroleum use.
  • Green facility operations and maintenance.
  • Green mail processing and delivery operations.
  • Green information technology and electronics stewardship.
  • Selling green value to customers.
  • Employee engagement in sustainability.
