Equipment Roundup to Save Costs

You know they’re out there – pieces of empty mail transport equipment (MTE) soaking up the summer sun like they’re on holiday. Well, it’s time to put that equipment back to work.

This year the Postal Service spent $120 million to replenish MTE inventory and make sure our customers and our business can function effectively.  With the average cost of sleeves at 55 cents, letter trays at $2, flat tubs at $5, and pallets at $20, it quickly adds up.
The Postal Service needs your help in rounding up flat tubs, letter trays and sleeves, rolling stock like hampers and cages, pallets and mailbags that are not in use and returning them to USPS inventory.  To report MTE that's either being misused or being unnecessarily staged, or is located outside the postal network, send an email to HQMTE@usps.gov, or call the MTE hotline at 866-330-3404.
