Rudolph to Light Up Holiday Stamp

On December 6, 1964, viewers saw something brand new, an animated TV special called Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Produced by Rankin/Bass Productions using a pioneering stop-motion animation technique called “Animagic,” the special featured the voice of Burl Ives as Sam, a singing snowman, who narrates the tale of a misfit reindeer who eventually finds his own special way to shine.

This year Rudolph and his friends will bring their own brand of joy and nostalgia to four new Forever stamps featuring still frames from the special. Rudolph will take center stage on a stamp of his own. Characters from the beloved TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer star in a new set of four holiday stamps. The artwork features still frames from the animated holiday show, which premiered in 1964.
