Recently, the Miami-Dade County Postal Customer Council (MDCPCC) hosted an educational seminar to assure the membership that postal employees were prepared for hurricane season. Broward County PCC members joined MDCPCC for a tour of the Royal Palm Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC). Manager, Transportation/Networks Eddy Ares talked about an average day at the plant and how an approaching storm changes operations.

“Mail is our livelihood --- for the Postal Service and for our customers,” said Miami, FL, Postmaster Enrique (Rick) Suarez. “It’s important that our customers know how well we are prepared should a storm impact South Florida.”

National Preparedness Specialist Teresa Parrett shared the contents of her “to go” bag which is ready “to go” in an emergency. She emphasized the importance of preparing for the season and remaining vigilant before, during, and after a weather emergency.

“It’s important to be prepared at work and at home,” Parrett said.
