Many changes are happening and more are on the way for the Postal Service. Many factors are driving these changes. A sharp decline in mail volume followed by a struggling economy has created a major loss of revenue. Change is not easily accepted by most people, but is extremely important when our working environment is changing daily.

Declining mail volume has lead to route reductions, and routes being abolished along with jobs. South Florida has reduced the number of auxiliary Vehicle Maintenance Facilities to lower operating expenses. The Hollywood Auxiliary Garage and the Pompano Auxiliary Garage have been closed. The equipment necessary to perform maintenance and repairs at these facilities would not be needed at the absorbing VMFs. This is where Govdeals.com has helped the Postal Service to capture revenue from excess, obsolete, and even equipment that is inoperable.

Govdeals is very similar to eBay as items can be placed on its website with or without a minimum bid, and days that these items will be up for bid can vary. All items are sold "as is, with no implied warranty” and are available for inspection by appointment. Once items are sold, successful bidders will pay Govdeals. Once payment is received by Govdeals, a check, minus the seller’s fees, is sent to Postal Service. Successful bidders are responsible for picking up their items or making those arrangements.

Items sold on Govdeals.com in the last two years has generated over $40,000 in revenue and has reduced in-house costs by not having to spend employee hours and money to advertise and sell items or destroy them and sell as scrap metal.

Govdeals.com has saved work hours, money, and generated revenue for the Postal Service.

A great deal for the Postal Service.
