May is Older Americans Month

Older Americans Month, an annual celebration of older adults, began May 1.

This year’s theme is “Connect, Create, Contribute,” which encourages older adults and their communities to:
  • Connect with friends, family, and services that support participation.
  • Create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment.
  • Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others.
By 2060, the number of people 65 and older is projected to reach 98.2 million, comprising one in four residents, according to the Census Bureau. Of this number, 19.7 million will be 85 or older.
