District Manager Jeffery Taylor always has believed in empowering employees and providing them with the tools to be successful in their chosen careers. To help employees take full advantage of career opportunities, he tapped Subject Matter Experts from his leadership team to share their knowledge and experience at the Career Conference the weekend of May 6 -7.

“Key to Your Success” was the theme of this year’s conference at the Bonaventure Resort and Spa in Weston, FL. Employees took advantage of a great weekend of activities that included networking opportunities and educational workshops, dining  and dancing, and golfing.

During the opening session, Southern Area Vice President Shaun Mossman shared his career path and postal experience with 541 employees who had registered for the Career Conference. The South Florida Leadership Team, and special guests Alabama District Manager Susan Aronson and Suncoast District Manager Eric Chavez, joined employees for breakfast and also welcomed one-on-one conversation on career advancement.

Workshops ranged from interview techniques to writing for career advancement to eCareer profiles, plus opportunities to learn more about the many functional areas within the U.S. Postal Service.

In addition to the workshops, several employees in the EAS Leadership Development (ELD) Program volunteered to mentor employees in their chosen careers. Representatives from the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service Miami Division discussed career opportunities. Local university and health and wellness representatives also were available to discuss educational and nutritional/fitness programs, respectively.
At the Career Conference, District Manager Jeffery Taylor (left) recognized and thanked Statistical Programs Data Collection Technician Donald Williams (right) for creating a webpage that invited a record number of employees to register.
Conference participants had an opportunity to learn about careers with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
