Gilbert is New Key West Postmaster

There’s a new face at the Key West Post Office --- Johnnie C. Gilbert, Jr. (pictured above) is the new Postmaster, effective today. Born and raised in West Palm Beach, Gilbert has 24 years in the Postal  Service and is a U.S. Army veteran of eight years.

Prior to joining the South Florida Postal Family, Gilbert was Manager, Customer Services in Gainesville, GA.

Gilbert began his postal career as a part-time, non-career employee who collected mail and delivered Express Mail (now Priority Mail Express). He then became a fulltime letter carrier in Deerfield Beach. He entered the managerial ranks as a Supervisor, Customer Services at the Lake Worth Post Office.

In 2001, he transferred as a letter carrier to Jackson, MS, and delivered mail for three years. He was promoted to Supervisor, Customer Services, and then Manager, Customer Services --- both positions in Jackson.

“I’m looking forward to working with Key West employees and the community,” said Gilbert, who reports to Manager, Post Office Operations, Area 1, Denise Young.

“Johnnie brings a wealth of experience in customer service and delivery operations. He is exactly who we need in Key West,” said Young. “Please join me in welcoming Johnnie to South Florida and in wishing him continued success in his career.”
