Fans 'Beam' about Star Trek Stamps

“Star Trek” fans are “beaming” about the Postal Service’s plans to issue stamps this year to honor the classic TV show’s 50th anniversary.
The four stamps, which USPS announced last month, feature images inspired by the 1966-69 series.
For example, one stamp shows a USS Enterprise crewman inside a transporter, while another depicts the ship inside the outline of Mr. Spock’s Vulcan salute.
The New York Post praised the stamps in a recent editorial, declaring them “pretty neat.” The stamps also capture “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry’s vision “to boldly go where no man has gone before,” the Post wrote.
USPS took great care designing the stamps, Wired magazine reported.
“Anytime you’re dealing with a show with as passionate a following as ‘Star Trek,’ you need to triple-check the accuracy of every detail,” said Woody Harrington, a senior designer at Heads of State, which designed the stamps for the Postal Service.
